The Campania Region Civil Protection Department, following assessments by its operational center, has issued a yellow-level weather alert for thunderstorms. From 9:00 a.m. tomorrow, Saturday, December 14th, to 9:00 a.m. the day after tomorrow, Sunday, December 15th, a new low-pressure system is expected to arrive, bringing heavy rainfall across much of the region and a localized risk of flooding.
These are the affected areas: 1 (Campania Plain, Naples , Islands, Vesuvian Area); 2 (Upper Volturno and Matese), 3 (Sorrento-Amalfi Peninsula, Sarno Mountains and Picentini Mountains); 5 (Tusciano and Upper Sele); 6 (Sele Plain and Upper Cilento); 8 (Lower Cilento)
. Flooding, overflowing, runoff, rising water levels of watercourses, rockfall and landslides will be possible given the fragility of the territories. Due to soil saturation, landslides and rockfalls will be possible even in the absence of new precipitation.
Civil Protection reminds the mayors of all CAMPANIA to activate the Municipal Operations Centers (Coc) and to implement all the measures provided for by their respective civil protection plans.
