Barcelona – While the Naples DDA prepares the extradition documents, the Carabinieri continue their investigations to track down the accomplices of Antonio Pompilio 'o cafone, the current fugitive regent of the Amato Pagano clan.
The 47-year-old was arrested two days ago in Barcelona, Spain, where he had taken refuge since last November after escaping the latest raid against the Scissionisti gang: he was wanted for mafia association and drug trafficking.
Law enforcement is now looking for the accomplices who helped Pompilio escape and hide in Barcelona.
A meticulous investigation
The investigations, based on wiretaps and statements from collaborators of justice, have painted a detailed picture of the clan's criminal activities. Pompilio, according to the accusations, would have had a leading role in the importation of cocaine and hashish from Spain.
The operation, conducted by the Carabinieri, brought to light a vast criminal network dedicated to drug trafficking, with ramifications in Italy and Spain. Pompilius, together with Enrico Bocchetti, would have assumed control of the clan after the arrest of Marco Liguori, managing the finances, organizing the drug routes and resolving internal disputes.
