An excavator belonging to an earthmoving company was engulfed in flames at a construction site located in the centre of Avellino.
According to investigators, the fire, which occurred yesterday evening shortly before 21:XNUMX p.m., was of malicious origin. The municipal police officers intervened promptly in via Pontieri, following a report from citizens, managing to put out the flames with fire extinguishers.
The accident occurred a short distance from the headquarters of the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza. The Fire Department, who arrived on the scene later, proceeded to secure the construction site area.
During the investigations conducted by the Flying Squad of the Avellino Police Headquarters, traces of flammable liquid were found, strengthening the hypothesis of a malicious act.
