At Civico 14 Mimmo Borrelli brings the solitude of creation to the stage with Il gelo by Eduardo De Filippo

The Teatro Civico 14 in Caserta is preparing to host the performance "Il gelo," a theatrical reading based on the play by Eduardo De Filippo. The performance, a production of the Fondazione Teatro di Napoli – Teatro Bellini, will be performed on Saturday, March 29th at 8:00 PM and Sunday, March 30th at 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM.

The protagonist of the play is Mimmo Borrelli, accompanied by the music of Antonio Della Ragione. The work focuses on the artist's solitude and on themes such as creative torment and the search for inspiration, central aspects in Eduardo's poetic universe.

An Artistic and Human Journey

“Il gelo” comes to life from a path that focuses on Mimmo Borrelli’s experience with the Opera Pezzentella theater project. This project, launched in 2013, has revitalized the historical memory of the Church of Santa Maria delle Anime del Purgatorio in Arco. Through a series of research and workshops, Borrelli has been able to delve not only into the museum site, but also into his own artistic journey. The show explores Eduardo’s creative restlessness through poetic fragments that underline the condition of an author in search of inspiration in front of the blank page.

Emblematic Figures and Poetic References

“Il gelo” is characterized by the use of three emblematic figures — Padre Cicogna, De Pretore Vincenzo and Baccalà — who weave a tale made of sounds and voices, representing an earthly Purgatory where misery and hope intertwine. The production is a tribute to Eduardo’s theater and a meditation on the artistic condition, reflecting on the complex relationship between creativity and solitude.

Tickets for “Il gelo” are available on place with prices ranging from €12 for a full ticket to €10 for a reduced ticket for under 30s, over 65s and affiliated members.
