Maradona Trial: Bodyguard Arrested for False Testimony

There's a dramatic turn of events at the San Isidro courthouse, where the trial into Diego Armando Maradona's death is underway. Julio Coria, one of the former soccer player's bodyguards, has been arrested on charges of perjury.

During his testimony, Coria denied any connection with neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque, the main defendant in the murder trial. However, prosecutor Patricio Ferrari exposed his lies, presenting numerous chats in court that proved the opposite.

“You are clearly lying,” Ferrari insisted, calling for the immediate arrest of the bodyguard. The three judges of the court, Maximiliano Savarino, Verónica Di Tommaso and Julieta Makintach, accepted the request of the public prosecutor.

In addition to Luque, six other members of the medical staff who took care of him are also accused in the trial. Maradona after surgery for a head hematoma. The charges against them include manslaughter and negligence.

It's incredible how justice sometimes doesn't seem to work as it should. I don't understand why the people who are supposed to protect end up lying and getting involved in situations like this. It's sad.
