ROME – A shock in the Serie C championship: the National Federal Tribunal (TFN) has imposed a heavy sanction on Taranto , decreeing their immediate exclusion from the current Group C tournament and assigning them a three-point penalty to be served in the first available season.
At the same time, Salvator Alfonso , the sole director of the Apulian club, was banned for three years . This decision will invalidate all of Taranto's results to date , resulting in a reshuffle of the Group C standings of the third division.
Penalties also for Lucchese, Messina and Triestina
The TFN also imposed a six-point penalty on Lucchese (Group B), to be served in the current season. Messina and Triestina suffered the same fate , receiving four penalty points respectively in Groups C and A of Serie C. The four clubs had been reported on March 3 following reports from Co.Vi.So.C. , the FIGC's economic and financial control body, for alleged administrative violations.
