The Carabinieri of the Environmental Protection Command continue to carry out tight controls on companies located along the Sarno River, with the aim of identifying and interrupting illegal activities that affect the health of the watercourse.
In fact, since the end of the lockdown period, the Sarno River has been the object of attention by the military, who, through a campaign of tight controls, have identified and discovered numerous situations of environmental illegality.
Specifically, some companies were checked, already subject to a series of prescriptions, aimed at remedying the violations identified during an initial inspection. At the end of the activity, the same companies, not having complied with the provisions and continuing to operate in total illegality, due to the lack of authorization documents for both emissions into the atmosphere and the discharge of water, were reported to the judicial authority of Nocera Inferiore for the crimes of unauthorized discharge of industrial wastewater into a surface water body and illegal waste management.
Since the early hours of the morning, the Carabinieri of the Special Department have been executing two seizures issued by the GIP at the Court of Nocera at the request of the local Prosecutor's Office. In particular: in Angri where the military seized a well-known hazardous and non-hazardous special waste recovery plant, operating in the PIP area of Taurana.
The offences, found by the NOE with the support of Arpa inspection personnel from Salerno, consist of having discharged industrial wastewater into the public sewer system, consisting of runoff water from the external yard susceptible to contamination; illegal activity of recovery of special waste, including hazardous waste, consisting of packaging containing hazardous or contaminated substances and plastic waste, as well as having exceeded the authorised daily quantitative limits.
The Carabinieri also intervened in Scafati, supported by Arpa personnel from Salerno for sampling and analysis operations, where they conducted checks regarding compliance with environmental regulations to the detriment of a canning industry located in via Orta Longa in the sector of treatment and transformation of food products of animal and vegetable origin.
From what emerged from the investigations, several violations were found, by the owner, of the provisions imposed in the authorization title with reference to the storage in an unauthorized area of special waste from the production process and consisting of sludge and waste unusable for consumption; as well as the delivery into the Fosso Bagni canal of wastewater from the purification plant, which were found not to comply with the COD, Nitrous Nitrogen and Escherichia Coli parameters. In this case too, the purification plant and the yard area covering a surface of 200 m350 affected by the presence of XNUMX tons of waste were seized.
