After the eviction of the unsafe building on Via Orsi, in the Vomero district of Napoli, since yesterday, a shoring intervention has been underway on the portion of the building affected by the landslides, starting from the ground floor up to the seventh floor.
At present, the ground, first and second floors have been propped up, while the propping up of the third floor is being completed.
Considering that 4 floors still need to be shored up in order to complete the “urgent and suitable protection interventions” and that further measures must be adopted to protect public safety, the closure of the section of Via Giuseppe Orsi from number 10 (inclusive) to number 26 (inclusive) has been ordered, “until the condominium presents a certification from the technician in charge regarding the completion of the works and the consequent safety measures”.
Two pillars of the building, composed of seven floors above ground, suffered a crushing with problems that cascaded throughout the building. While technical investigations continue into the causes of the collapse.
The judiciary has also opened an investigation into the matter, which wants to ascertain any responsibilities and above all whether the work carried out was authorised and by whom.
In the meantime, almost all the families have opted for independent accommodation, while a couple and a student have been placed by the Municipality in a hotel.
