Change of scene but not change of genre at the Teatro Arbostella “Gino Esposito” where the lowest common denominator remains comedy.
Over the next three weekends, Gianni Tricarico’s historic Neapolitan company Teatromania will be returning to the stage of the Viale Verdi venue, warming up the cold winter evenings with the crackling and hilarious text by Paolo Caiazzo and Francesco Procopio entitled “Separati…ma non troppo.”
The plot tells of Giulio, a fifty-year-old, forced to abandon the marital home who asks for hospitality from his friend Nicola who is also in the same conditions. Nicola occupies an apartment owned by the lunatic neighbor with psychological disorders related to her past as an actress, in the memory of the past years. For this reason the man has agreed to occupy the house for free in exchange for an activity: carer at all hours. Giulio and Nicola, given the economic difficulties due also and above all to the maintenance checks to be given to their respective wives, decide to divide the same task.
The crazy incursions of the owner Lily who bursts into the scene at times give depth to the scenic story. In this unstable situation the protagonists of the story try to overcome the existential crisis. Single life undoubtedly has its obstacles, even if it is apparently devoid of direct responsibilities: in fact, the protagonists seem to only care about the soccer game: "bachelors against married men".
They then decide to make a clean break with the past and reclaim their newfound freedom. The new lifestyle is carried out, with a few exceptions, in perfect harmony. The accounts with the past lifestyle soon, as often happens, must be made: a tangle of situations and here are the former companions, Patrizia and Marita, appearing again in their existence.
After an initial period of euphoria, the “separated in the house” begin to encounter difficulties. A difficult situation to manage. In short, after a game of misunderstandings, it will be discovered that it was all a set of initiatives, with the complicity of the lady of the house, aimed at finding the family tranquility of the past.
On stage, in addition to Rino Grillo who also takes care of the direction, the expert and overwhelming Nunzia Di Mare, Pasquale Falconetti, Mariarosaria Cafiero, Valeria Califano, Paolo Trammacco, Margherita Nativo and Antonino Guida will perform with mastery.
