The threshold of fuel distributors that have joined the strike called in Campania to protest against the transparency decree passed by the Government is estimated at around 80%.
A figure that, however, only takes into account those who are registered with trade unions. The percentage drops significantly, however, if we take into account the 40% of the 1.800 plants active in the region that do not belong to oil companies and that have remained largely open.
The so-called 'white pumps' are therefore causing a drastic drop in the participation trend, and according to Faib Confesercenti they would have joined by 30%.
“This trend was largely foreseeable already on the eve – the regional president, Antonio Panico, announced – it is a strike that was essentially born out of the will of a part of the managers, but the low participation was felt in the air".
To certify a sort of split even between the various trade unions, there is the different interpretation given by Figisc Confcommercio. “It was what we expected – underlines the president of Campania, Gaetano La Rocca – we don't have a handle on the real situation, because hundreds of pumps are not linked to the main brands, but we are in line with national levels and we are satisfied with the participation".
Faib and Figisc agree instead on the situation that occurred at the distributors before the start of the strike and in these hours. “We have seen some queues, but without excessive inconvenience”, reassures La Rocca.
“Before 19pm yesterday, a higher than average turnout was recorded but without any problems – echoes Panic – as happens in these situations, some people developed a sort of psychosis, due to the risk of being left without fuel for two days, but nothing exceptional".
