A second landslide in a few hours has hit the state road that connects the Sorrento Peninsula and the Amalfi Coast, once again throwing the provinces of Naples and Salerno into alarm. The episode occurred in the early afternoon today, when a portion of the coast collapsed onto the state road, creating serious risks for vehicular traffic.
The Carabinieri of the Sorrento company immediately intervened on the scene to manage the situation, limiting traffic to one-way traffic while waiting for ANAS to intervene. This decision was taken as a priority to ensure the safety of motorists traveling along that stretch.
This new landslide follows another critical event that occurred this morning along the Meta-Amalfi state road, where a private bus with tourists on board was hit by some rocks. The accident occurred at kilometer 6,675 of the state road, near Piano di Sorrento, on the Amalfi coast side. Fortunately, there were no injuries. Both collapses could be linked to the violent bad weather that affected the area in the previous days.
