The first-degree trial held before the preliminary hearing judge of the Naples North court, Mariangela Guida, concluded in the afternoon. The judge sentenced Carmelo Maglione to 3 years in prison; the other three defendants, Thomas Sanniola, Pietro Sarnelli and Pasquale Sarnelli, received 2 years and 4 months each.
The preliminary hearing judge granted Maglione junior house arrest: the scion was thus able to leave the Poggioreale prison.
“Unfortunately I fear – Borrelli stated – that with these subjects re-education is almost impossible. So the longer they stay in prison the better it will be”.
Last April they were the protagonists of the brutal beating of a municipal officer on duty in the Municipality of Naples for an argument about overtaking. The attack took place on the Domiziana, in the locality Varcaturo, and took place in front of dozens of terrified motorists.
The police managed to identify the culprits thanks to the video that was released by the deputy of the Green-Left alliance Francesco Emilio Borrelli.
Among those sentenced is also the son of the deceased boss Maglione
Carmel Sweater, son of the deceased boss of Villaricca Francis Sweater, and the three accomplices of the attack, were sentenced today in the first degree. Maglione, 28 years old, Peter Sarnelli of 36, and Thomas Sanniola, 20 years old, resident between Giugliano and Villaricca.
Maglione, in particular, is the son of Francesco Maglione, a former boss of Villaricca who disappeared in 2011. In 2005 his brother Sebastiano was brutally killed at just 14 years old by a gang of young criminals.
Four years later, in 2009, it was the turn of Vittorio, Carmelo's twin brother, who took his own life at just 13 years old. A familiar face to the police, he was investigated in the past for attempted murder and extortion. At just 21 years old, he was accused of shooting a criminal from Acerra after an argument that apparently arose over an unpaid debt of 60 thousand euros.
