Caserta. The general manager of Finance of the Common of Caserta Dr. Gioacchino Petrella. The sentence was issued by the President of the Second Criminal Section of the Sammaritan Court, Dr. Sergio Enea, who fully accepted the thesis of innocence of his defenders, the lawyers Raffaele and Gaetano Crisileo.
For the manager Petrella, originally from the Citta' del Foro, but resident in Carinola, the charge was for forgery of a public document and balance sheet for having 'falsely' certified the regularity of the accounts of the Caserta capital between 2007 and 2010 where he worked in those years.
During the many various hearings, which lasted for over three years, the officers of the Guardia di Finanza of the Caserta Company Command were heard, who had acquired - upon delegation from the Deputy Public Prosecutor, delegate of the investigations, Dr. Antonella Cantiello - the documents at the Town Hall.
Then the officials and employees in charge of the various offices of the Municipality of Caserta were also heard, as well as the former mayor Dr. Pio Del Gaudio, who – as an opposition councilor – was the one who reported to the Judiciary the alleged irregularities, which in his opinion were in progress, triggering the investigation of the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere.
Finally, the two technical consultants were heard (that of the Public Prosecutor, Prof. Antonio Perna and that of the defense, Prof. Eugenio Piscino). After the complaint of Dr. Del Gaudio, the declaration of bankruptcy of the Municipality of Caserta followed (this occurred in the year 2011).
The investigation has attracted much attention among the citizens of the capital and the Municipality of Caserta has joined the civil action with the lawyer Lidia Gallo.
