A woman showed up at the Teramo prison for a meeting with her detained partner, hiding two micro-cell phones in her private parts, which however did not escape the control of the prison police personnel. The Autonomous Union of Penitentiary Police (Sappe) reported the incident.
“On Monday morning,” says Giuseppe Pallini, secretary of Sappe, “a local woman tried to introduce two micro-cell phones during the conversation with her detained husband, hiding them in her private parts.
Sappe expresses its appreciation for the professionalism of the interview staff, who prevented these devices from ending up in the hands of prisoners, thus preventing further illicit trafficking.” The woman was reported to the judicial authorities.
“The daily discovery of cell phones in prison represents a serious national security problem, which can no longer be ignored,” commented Donato Capece, secretary general of Sappe.
“It is necessary to shield all Italian prisons, starting with the one in Castrogno. In 2023, 3.606 cell phones were seized throughout the country, with the bosses who continue to give orders, threaten and circumvent detention, as the prosecutor of Naples, Nicola Gratteri, recently underlined.
These numbers should worry everyone, not just those who represent the front-line staff of the prisons. An intervention by the Penitentiary Administration is urgent.”
