Battipaglia. Moments of fear last night in Piazza Amendola, crowded with people for the “Togo Fest”, an event organized by the Aps Miusic association. During the evening, a tree was set on fire due to unauthorized fireworks, exploded by a participant unrelated to the organization.
The incident caused panic among those present, fortunately without causing injuries. The Municipality of Battipaglia firmly condemned the incident, calling it an act of “irresponsibility and recklessness.” In an official statement, the administration said: “Despite the absence of personal injury, the fire represents a serious attack on public safety. The necessary investigations are underway to identify those responsible.”
The Aps Miusic association and the Togo Fest staff also dissociated themselves from the incident, specifying that the use of firecrackers was neither planned nor authorized: "We strongly criticize this dangerous behavior, totally alien to our format. We hope that the episode has not compromised the success of an evening designed to offer moments of cohesion and lightheartedness to the community."
Local authorities are continuing their investigations to clarify responsibilities and prevent similar incidents in the future.
