San Bartolomeo in Galdo – He attempted to repossess his seized car by pretending to be a Carabinieri marshal, but was unmasked and reported. The protagonist of the story is a young man from Val Fortore, already known to the police, now accused of theft of seized goods, material forgery committed by a private individual and impersonation.
The episode began in the last few days, when the military had seized the young man's car, caught using it despite it already being under administrative detention. Shortly after, the Carabinieri of Baselice noticed the same vehicle parked in front of the owner's home, rather than in the warehouse of the company responsible for its custody.
The investigations revealed the singular stratagem put in place: the young man had contacted the owner of the depot by pretending to be a marshal of the Arma, sending him a false report canceling the fine and authorizing him to return the car. To make the deception more credible, he had also set up an appointment with the depot using a telephone number different from the one used for official messages, thus managing to regain possession of the car.
Once the fraud was discovered, the vehicle was again entrusted to the judicial custodian, while the young man was reported at large. The investigations continue to clarify any further responsibilities.
