Casagiove, mother threatened to die under the influence of drugs: 34-year-old arrested

Casagiove – An episode of domestic violence shook the municipality of Casagiove, in the province of Caserta, yesterday morning, where a 34-year-old, in an evident state of psychophysical alteration due to the use of marijuana, threatened to kill and attacked his own mother, a 65-year-old woman, in an attempt to extort money from her.

The man was arrested by the Carabinieri of the Casagiove Station, who intervened promptly after a request for help from the victim.

The dramatic scene took place in an apartment on the first floor of a condominium in the town center. The military, alerted by the Operations Center of the Caserta Company, arrived on the scene after the elderly woman had dialed the emergency number 112, exasperated by the continuous threats and requests for money from her son.

When they arrived at the scene, the Carabinieri heard screams coming from the house, where they found the victim in a state of shock, blocked on the threshold of the bedroom, while her son shouted at her, threatening her and asking for money.

The intervention of the military prevented the situation from degenerating further. The woman, visibly shocked, burst into tears as soon as she saw the Carabinieri, finding a moment of relief after hours of terror.

After calming her down and reassuring her, the soldiers listened to the story of the 65-year-old, who reported that her son had been demanding money with increasing insistence for some time, going as far as threatening and physically attacking both her and her husband every time they refused to comply.

In a fit of rage he said to his mother, “I'll cut your throat.”

Despite the presence of the Carabinieri, the 34-year-old, in a fit of violence and under the influence of marijuana, continued to rage against his parents, threatening to "slit their throats" and "cut off their heads". Addressing the soldiers in an aggressive tone, the man even ordered them to leave the house, claiming that their presence bothered him. After vain attempts to restore calm, the Carabinieri proceeded to stop the man and take him to the barracks.

Following the formal complaint of the parents, who reported that the episode was part of a context of repeated domestic violence, the 34-year-old was arrested on charges of mistreatment against family members and attempted extortion. After the formal procedures, the man was transferred to the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison, where he will remain awaiting trial.

The parents, who have already been victims of similar episodes in the past, have expressed their concern for an unsustainable situation, stressing that they no longer want to tolerate the continuous aggression and intimidation of their son. The intervention of the police has avoided the worst, but the case has brought the spotlight back on the tragedy of domestic violence and its devastating consequences.
