The short film “Sono comparsa alla Madonna,” written and directed by Fabio Morgan, began its Italian tour on April 2, after appearing in the Official Short Film Selection at the 2023 Turin Film Festival. The work, produced by Velvet Movie and distributed by Sprixar, pays homage to renowned theater artist Carmelo Bene through a mockumentary tale that explores his imaginary childhood.
A Tribute to Carmelo Bene
The cinematographic work is inspired by the artistic roots of Carmelo Bene, recalling his early life through narratives set in Salento. Between the sunny countryside, the first performances and the hallucinations that influenced his theater, the film explores the profound cultural and religious influences that marked his career. The production took place entirely in the Municipality of Campi Salentina, Bene's hometown, using local actors, mostly young non-professionals.
Tour in the Italian Halls
The short film itinerary includes screenings in various Italian cities. After its debut in Livorno and Frosinone, it will continue in Verona, Grosseto, Rome, Perugia, Taranto, Asti, Rieti, Lecce, Viterbo, Barletta, Latina and Turin. Some screening sessions will be accompanied by the viewing of the opera “Nostra Signora dei Turchi” by Carmelo Bene, as well as meetings with the director Fabio Morgan.
