Torre Annunziata – An illegal occupation that lasted for years ended with an intervention by the police.

This morning, in execution of a decree of preventive seizure issued by GIP of the Court of Torre Annunziata, at the request of Prosecutor's Office, it was carried out forced eviction of a agricultural fundTwo sheds and greenhouses located in Siena Tower Street 244.
The properties, confiscated in 2012 and intended for social purposes, had been illegally occupied by two cohabiting people.
Illegal occupation and seizure
Investigations revealed that the assets, transferred to the Municipality of Torre Annunziata in 2020 fromNational Agency for Assets Seized and Confiscated from Organized Crime, were still employed in the February 2022, despite aeviction order issued by the Municipality in March of the same year.
One of the agricultural funds had been in the past entrusted by the Municipality, with a provision subsequently revoked, to one of the people under investigation today, cohabiting partner of the son of the former owner of the confiscated property. However, the occupants they had never left the area, despite the repeated intervention of the judicial police, who had tried to Seal the sheds and greenhouses with padlocks, promptly removed.
Il Court of Torre Annunziata has ordered the precautionary seizure of one of the two existing agricultural funds and warehouses, while for the second one it rejected the request for seizure, considering that the crime of invasion of public land could not be configured. However, on the latter amunicipal eviction order, which will have to be carried out.
The intervention of the police forces
The clearing operations, conducted by the State Police and Municipal Police, were made necessary for stop the illegal conduct and allow the assets to return to their former state original destination for social purposes.
At the end of the operation, the properties were made inaccessible to prevent new occupations and trust in judicial custody to the heritage office of the Municipality of Torre Annunziata.

It is important that law enforcement intervenes in these cases to enforce the law, but I wonder why the occupation lasted so long. There needs to be more control over these confiscated assets that remain abandoned.
