Almost fifty years after its release, “Taxi Driver,” Martin Scorsese’s masterpiece, is ready to return to Italian theaters in a restored 4K version. From March 31 to April 2, viewers will have the opportunity to relive the visual and narrative power of a film that has left an indelible mark on the history of cinema.
The Return of Scorsese's Classic
Released in 1976, “Taxi Driver” chronicles the descent into madness of Travis Bickle, a former marine and night cab driver, plunged into alienation in a corrupt and violent New York. Overwhelmed by insomnia and loneliness, and obsessed with violence, Travis plans an extreme act that will mark the point of no return.
A cultural icon
The film, written by Paul Schrader and with a score by Bernard Herrmann, deeply explores the themes of alienation, violence and redemption. “Taxi Driver” received the Palme d’Or at Cannes and four Oscar nominations, becoming a cultural icon thanks to Scorsese’s direction and Robert De Niro’s performance. The cast also includes Jodie Foster, Harvey Keitel and Cybill Shepherd.

It's great that Taxi Driver is coming back, but I don't understand why the film needs to be restored in 4K. The story is already powerful and I don't think the visual details change much. I hope it's still an interesting event.
