A 17-year-old girl, originally from Grosseto, tragically disappeared during a school trip aboard a ferry off the coast of Naples: the girl was taking part in a trip organised by the Polo Tecnologico Manetti Porciatti of Grosseto, headed to Palermo, as part of an educational initiative entitled “Tour della Legalità”.
According to initial reports, the student suddenly felt ill while on board the ferry. Once she returned to her cabin, she collapsed to the ground. Her classmates, concerned about her condition, immediately raised the alarm, causing emergency services to intervene.
La Coast Guard, with a patrol boat, quickly reached the scene of the accident, while a 118 doctor climbed on board to provide first aid. Despite desperate attempts to revive her, the girl died shortly after, leaving everyone shocked and saddened. The young woman's body was subsequently transported to the morgue of the hospital in Naples, where it will undergo an autopsy to determine the exact causes of death.
The school expressed its deepest condolences in an official statement: “The school is deeply saddened by the death of our student, who died last night during a planned field trip. Our thoughts are with the girl’s parents, who have been devastated by this tragedy. Our thoughts and affection are with them at this time of immense grief.”
