Three scammers, specialized in defrauding elderly people, were intercepted and reported by officers from the Bologna traffic police subsection during a check on the A14, where they stopped two suspicious cars.
In the first there were a man and a woman aged 31 and 38, resident in the province of Caserta, in possession of 300 euros in cash and various jewels (rings, necklaces and bracelets). In the second there was a 43-year-old from Naples, who had with him 2.600 euros and other jewels.
Since the three were unable to justify the possession of money and valuables, some investigations were carried out which, in short, allowed them to trace two elderly women, one resident in the province of Verona and the other in Genoa, both victims of the scam of the 'fake accident' to one of their relatives.
In this way they had been tricked into handing over the money and valuables. The three were reported for fraud and the goods were returned to the elderly victims.

I read that these scammers have been caught, but I wonder why the elderly do not realize that something is wrong. It is sad to think that there are people who exploit the kindness of others to deceive them.
