Limits on the serving of alcoholic beverages and closing at 3:XNUMX am, the ordinance of the mayor of Sessa Aurunca does not please the shopkeepers of Baia Domitia.
Confcommercio promotes a roundtable and requests an urgent meeting with the Municipality. 'The measures adopted by the administration – explains Vincenzo Punzo, representative of the delegation of traders from Baia Domitia – are damaging the category with repercussions on sales which have already registered a drop of forty percent.
Among the causes is also the decision to authorize a street food market in the streets of the center. An inappropriate arrangement because in addition to reducing the visibility of the shops and exercising unfair competition, these stands also take away parking spaces from tourists and customers who, in the absence of parking, often go elsewhere.
Nothing against street vendors but we believe they should be located elsewhere and not in front of shop windows also in respect of those activities that operate in Baia all year round, animating the area even in the low season and guaranteeing, with their presence, a continuous commercial presence.
Hence the appeal to the mayor of Sessa Aurunca. 'As Confcommercio – declares the provincial president Lucio Sindaco – we will act as spokespersons for the category's problems in the hope of being able to dialogue with the administration to identify a solution to the problems that are putting a strain on the work of the historic traders in the center.
On our part, there is full willingness to collaborate with the institutions to address the problems related to safety and wild nightlife but in respect of the category and without penalizing commercial activities. However, our invitation is also addressed to the mayor of Cellole by virtue of the fact that the territory of Baia Domitia is common to both administrations.
A comparison that we hope to start also in view of the possibility of establishing in the near future a Commercial District that involves both mayors of the coast'. Meanwhile, a meeting with the councilor for productive activities, Lorenzo Fusco, has already been scheduled for today at the Municipality of Sessa Aurunca. 'We hope that from the top – concludes Punzo – a shared solution may emerge, otherwise we will be ready to occupy the square'.
The newly formed delegation of Confcommercio 'Sessa Aurunca, Cellole, Baia Domitia' will be present at the table with the administration.
