Yesterday evening, around 20 pm, Arpac technicians and the Avellino Fire Department intervened, at the request of the Carabinieri, for environmental checks relating to the fire underway in the Pip area in the Campoceraso area of the municipality of Torre le Nocelle.
The event involved a warehouse, in a completely uncovered area, of building materials consisting of sandwich panels in sheet metal and polyurethane and rock wool panels. The fire appeared almost completely extinguished due to the intervention of the Fire Brigade and the Agency started the appropriate environmental monitoring operations.
At first glance, the combustion appears to have affected only part of the material present, on a limited surface of the yard, approximately 500 square meters compared to the total extension of 3.700 square meters.
The previous Sunday, October 8, another fire, also contained quickly, had affected, in addition to the material deposited on the ground, also waste of various types stored on a paved area, licking a warehouse.
Near the site of the fire, the Agency, in collaboration with the Municipality, placed this morning a mobile laboratory for monitoring air quality, capable of measuring for the necessary period of time the hourly concentrations of sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, ozone, PM10 and PM2.5 fine dust, benzene, toluene, xylene and also a sampler for the search for dioxins and furans dispersed in the atmosphere.
The results of the ongoing investigations will be released as soon as they are available.
