The President of the Campania Region, Vincenzo De Luca, has urgently called a meeting to address the crisis related to the lack of staff in emergency rooms.
In addition to making some operational decisions, the official note reiterates the accusations against the Government for "very serious responsibilities" regarding the health personnel of the Campania Region, deemed insufficient.
From Palazzo Santa Lucia, a “scandalous undersupply of hospital beds in Campania” is denounced, with criticism of the “permanent and unjustified constraints” that limit the overcoming of this undersizing.
In today's meeting, every possible solution, even temporary, was examined to address the problems in the regional emergency rooms.
Faced with the lack of participation of doctors in the numerous competitions announced to fill positions in emergency rooms, an ad hoc resolution was approved to authorize the use, even on a fixed-term basis, of medical personnel of specialties similar to those of the emergency, such as cardiologists, gastroenterologists and internists, both from personnel already employed in health facilities and from suitable people present in the regional rankings.
Furthermore, the decision was made to quickly announce a single regional competition to re-evaluate the availability of doctors for emergency room activities.
