In view of the next Carnival, the Guardia di Finanza of the Provincial Command of Salerno has strengthened its controls to protect the goods and services sector. The aim is to combat the trade of unsafe items, which are particularly dangerous for the health of the youngest buyers.
During the checks, almost 2.000 items were found and placed under precautionary constraint without the necessary certifications and warnings for use required by consumer protection legislation.
In another operation, the Finance Police of the Sala Consilina branch seized a total of over 32.000 products, such as masks, confetti, gadgets and disguises, due to the lack of security information.
Finally, the Sapri Police Department identified a commercial activity with approximately 9.000 pieces, including numerous Carnival accessories, which did not comply with the Consumer Code.
Overall, over 42.000 products were removed from the market and the owners of the commercial establishments were reported to the competent Chamber of Commerce for the application of administrative sanctions.
The constant commitment of the Guardia di Finanza in the surveillance and marketing of products compliant with CE and national standards protects honest economic operators and the health of consumers.
