The 38-year-old was already known to law enforcement and had a criminal record for receiving stolen goods, illegal possession of a weapon and possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing.
It all started when the Carabinieri noticed an unusual coming and going of young people from one of the homes in the city center, and decided to intervene. After knocking on the door of the suspect's apartment, the soldiers were greeted by the man, who immediately appeared nervous and reluctant to be checked, prompting the Carabinieri to proceed with a personal and home search.
The Carabinieri's intuition proved to be correct: inside the attic, camouflaged among some boxes, they found a pink backpack from which the cell phones inside were continuously ringing.

Immediate investigations revealed that the 38-year-old had just committed an online scam against an unsuspecting buyer from Milan, who had just made a bank transfer of 350 euros in exchange for insurance coverage that he had never received.
The victim, contacted by the police, confirmed that he had found the insurance ad online, apparently advantageous but in reality fake.
After realizing that he had been scammed, the buyer immediately reported the 38-year-old. The latter was arrested and, after the formal procedures, was placed under house arrest at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
The discovery of the makeshift call center, the seizure of the notebook and numerous smartphones, together with the scam just committed, led to the arrest of the 38-year-old.
