The excitement of winning the Coppa Italia could quickly turn into a nightmare for Massimiliano Allegri, in his second spell on the Juventus bench. From the joy of winning the national trophy, the Juventus coach has ended up in the spotlight for a series of controversial behaviors, culminating in a two-match suspension.
In the chaos at the end of the match at the Olimpico, Allegri showed all his anger from the sidelines, ending up being sent off by referee Maresca. As he headed towards the locker room, he repeatedly shouted the name of the referee's designator Gianluca Rocchi, showing his frustration. After the final whistle, he expressed his apologies to Rocchi in the locker room, trying to calm things down.
However, during the celebrations, Allegri once again vented his frustration, this time against sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli, inviting him to leave, a moment captured by the cameras. The tensions then escalated into a violent altercation with Tuttosport director Guido Vaciago, in which Allegri allegedly made heavy insults and threats.
The coach's behavior was immediately examined by the Federal Prosecutor's Office and transferred to the Sports Judge, who inflicted a two-match ban on Allegri and a fine of 5000 euros. Juventus expressed its disappointment with the behavior of its coach and asked for an apology from both Vaciago and the photographer of the LaPresse Agency for the damage caused during the altercation.
President John Elkann and President Stefano Ferrero were present at the Olimpico and showed their discomfort for what happened. At Juventus, there are moments of reflection and Allegri's position is quite precarious. An immediate dismissal is not excluded, which could have legal consequences given the contractual implications.
At the moment, it seems that Paolo Montero, the current coach of the Primavera, could be Allegri's replacement for the last two days of the championship. Despite being under contract with Juventus until 2025, it seems that the divorce between Allegri and the club is now inevitable, as implicitly suggested by the coach himself during his post-match statements.
