The Municipality of Naples is among the winners of the competition promoted by the Ministry of Education for the design and construction of 212 innovative, sustainable, safe and inclusive schools throughout Italy, chosen from 1.737 projects submitted. The cost of the works for the demolition and reconstruction of the comprehensive institute is 4,5 million euros and the completion of the intervention is scheduled for March 2026.
Naples does not stop at just “Troisi” Institute: the city is involved in 27 other school building projects funded by the PNRR. However, the construction site of the “Troisi” had recently been the scene of a news story with the explosion of some gunshots, raising concerns about safety.
“The school complex that will be built will be characterized by great seismic safety, zero energy consumption and innovative solutions for children and the community. It is a great investment by the city of Naples in an important territory. This school reality will be crucial for the future of our children”, explained Mayor Manfredi.
"The work is scheduled to end in early 2026. We are very vigilant, together with the Prefecture and the Police, on the many construction sites that are opening in our city. The company has signed the anti-racket pact and there is special control because the issue of legality is a priority. All the work that is being done in the city will be monitored and this is a source of pride for Naples: we have to do things, do them well and in full compliance with the law".
Councilor Striano added: "This school in Pianura will be innovative and self-sufficient in terms of energy, but above all it will be an integral part of the territory with a playground, an arena and spaces that will allow the creation of important educational relationships. The project has been recognized as one of the most innovative in Italy. At this moment we have numerous interventions underway for school buildings, both with demolition and reconstruction projects like this one, and with redevelopment works that involve schools, gyms, nursery schools and kindergartens".
