Funded by the Ministry of the Interior with two new officers in the Municipal Police command with duties of surveillance of the beaches and state-owned areas
Two new Municipal Police officers with duties of surveillance of the beaches and state-owned areas. They will be on duty from tomorrow to Amalfi within the project "Safe beaches – Summer 2024”, drafted by Commander Agnese Martingano on the input of the Municipal Administration led by Mayor Daniele Milano, and financed by the Ministry of the Interior.
With fixed-term contracts, the new agents will be operational in the municipal area to combat commercial abuse and the sale of counterfeit products this summer season.
The initiative, funded by the "Urban Security Fund" intended for coastal municipalities identified by the Ministry of the Interior, has allowed the Municipality to Amalfi, whose project was positively evaluated by the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Safety which met at the Prefecture of Salerno, not only the temporary hiring of new Municipal Police personnel (the officers will be required to work more overtime) but also the purchase of vehicles and equipment in addition to the promotion of awareness campaigns aimed at increasing consumer awareness of the damage resulting from the purchase of counterfeit products.
The new agents, who will work alongside their colleagues from the Amalfi PM in controlling the coastlines, were found by scrolling through the rankings and will operate in those locations that, like Amalfi, have a population of less than 5 inhabitants and have recorded, according to the latest Istat data, the highest attendance in accommodation establishments.
“The strengthening of the Amalfi Municipal Police force, with a specific service along the beaches and piers where disembarkation and embarkation operations take place, represents a further, important step towards guaranteeing a safer summer for citizens and the many tourists who choose to spend their holidays in our City”, declared the Councillor for Supervision Francesco De Riso.
