Castello di Cisterna. A clear sign that racketeering lords are intensifying their extortion demands as the Christmas holidays approach. It happened last night when Carabinieri from the Castello di Cisterna operations and mobile unit responded to the explosion of a firecracker on Via Papa Giovanni XXIII.
The device was placed in front of the shutter of a betting shop. The powerful explosion damaged the shutter, the interior door, and some interior furnishings. The blast startled residents in the area, who, alarmed, rushed to alert the police.
There are no injuries. The Carabinieri are investigating to reconstruct the dynamics and origin of the crime. The military have heard the manager of the betting shop in Ilq Aule, who has reported that he has never received threats or extortion requests.
