Blitz against the Camorra: 20 arrests between Frattamaggiore and Crispano
Article Key Points
NAPLES – Carpet lace traders and entrepreneurs, management of drug dealing areas and armed conflict with the clan's rivals Christian-Mormile.
Since dawn today, 20 top members and followers of the Pezzella clan, active between Frattamaggiore, Frattaminore and Crispano, have ended up in jail thanks to a joint operation by the police and the Carabinieri coordinated by the Dda in Naples.
The suspects are held responsible, to varying degrees, for mafia-type association, extortion, possession and carrying of weapons – including clandestine weapons –, drug trafficking and dealing. The crimes in question would be aggravated by the so-called mafia method and the aim of facilitating the Pezzella clan, operating in the municipalities of Frattamaggiore, Crispano and surrounding areas.
The investigations, conducted by the Police Station of frattamaggiore and by the Naples Flying Squad, would have brought to light the clan's operations in the management of extortions against entrepreneurs and traders, in addition to the availability of weapons to consolidate control over the territory and counter rival groups, including the "Cristiano-Mormile" clan, coming from nearby arzano.
Management of drug dealing areas
At the same time, the activity of an organization dedicated to the trafficking and sale of narcotic substances – including cocaine, hashish, marijuana and crack – in the areas of Frattamaggiore and Frattaminore was documented.
A further investigation conducted by the Carabinieri Company of Casoria has also brought to light new episodes of extortion, characterized by violence and intimidation, which could be traced back to a branch of the Pezzella clan.

The operation against the Pezzella clan seems to me to be an important step forward in the fight against organized crime. However, I hope that there will be real consequences and not just temporary arrests. It is essential that the authorities continue to work to ensure safety in communities.
I agree with you, but it is also important that law enforcement agencies have adequate resources to effectively fight the mafia. Without investment and support, the results may not be sustainable.
