According to the woman, the child would be forced to attend school for only 9 hours a week, as he was considered "unmanageable" by the institute.
The appeal to the Minister and the Regional School Office
Imma, the child's mother, turned to the association "La Battaglia di Andrea" and, through her lawyer, sent a letter to the Regional School Office and to Minister Valditara, claiming the right to education for her son.
“My son must attend school like all children and he must also have the right to integration and inclusion for all his hours,” the woman declared.
Reduced hours and alleged pressure
According to the complaint, the child would be allowed to attend school only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, for approximately three hours a day, with a significant reduction in school hours.
The mother claims that the school principal justified this decision with a request from the health professionals of the ASL Na 2 Nord who follow the child. Imma also reported that she had been pressured by the school, which had proposed to increase the hours of attendance only in the case of adequate pharmacological treatment for her son, and that she had been threatened with reporting to social services.
The reaction of the association “La Battaglia di Andrea”
Asia Maraucci, president of the association “La Battaglia di Andrea”, defined the situation as “extremely serious” and assured legal support to the family, expressing confidence in the institutions and in Minister Valditara.
“We have full confidence in the institutions, in the minister Giuseppe Valditara and in the director of the Regional School Office Ettore Acerra, and we are certain that everything will go in the best possible way,” declared Maraucci.
