Avellino – New discoveries of illicit devices once again shake the Avellino Bellizzi prison, in particular the Padiglione De Vivo, once considered an excellence in the Campania penitentiary system.
In the last few hours, Penitentiary Police officers have discovered 2 microphones, just over 48 hours after the seizure of 11 other prohibited objects, including smartphones and microphones, hidden in the common areas of the pavilion.
The De Vivo Pavilion, designed as an advanced treatment unit and intended for prisoners with exemplary behavior, seems to have lost its original vocation. The UILPA Penitentiary Police has repeatedly denounced the deterioration of the situation, underlining how the pavilion has now become a promiscuous area, far from the safety and control standards that should characterize it.
Raffaele Troise, head of the GAU UILPA Penitentiary Police, reiterated the daily critical issues that weigh on the staff, forced to continuously intervene to combat drug trafficking and illicit communication devices.
“The staff demonstrates commendable professionalism, but operates in unsustainable conditions,” Troise said, highlighting how the lack of resources and the disinterest of higher institutions are putting the safety of the entire institute at risk.
UILPA once again calls for immediate intervention by the competent authorities, aimed at restoring an adequate number of agents and ensuring dignified working conditions. "Security in the Avellino prison is a fundamental prerequisite for respecting the constitutional mandate", added Troise, underlining the urgency of concrete measures to restore order and legality in an increasingly compromised context.
Meanwhile, the Penitentiary Police staff continues to operate with a spirit of self-denial, despite the daily difficulties and risks. A round of applause goes to the officers who were the protagonists of the latest discoveries, who have once again demonstrated dedication and professionalism in an increasingly complex context.
The situation in the Avellino prison remains dramatic, but the determination of the prison workers does not wane. Now, however, concrete responses from the institutions are needed to prevent the degradation from becoming irreversible.

It is truly worrying that in the prison of Avellino they continue to find illicit devices. Something must be done to improve the situation, especially in the Padiglione De Vivo, which has lost its original function and no longer seems a safe place.
