The Guardia di Finanza's activity continues without interruption Avellino to combat phenomena of economic and financial illegality.
On Friday 18 August last, the financial police of the Economic and Financial Police Unit - Mobile Section, during a territorial patrol, noticed along the A/16 motorway stretch, inside the Irpinia service area, an articulated lorry with a box trailer that was transporting material covered with a plastic sheet.
The patrol promptly proceeded to check the vehicle, finding inside the container special waste consisting of rubber and plastic material.
When asked by the military, the driver was unable to provide any supporting documents regarding the place where the waste was produced, its nature and destination.
Subsequent investigations carried out at the department allowed us to ascertain that the trailer loaded with the material, quantified at 20.015 kg, was not registered in the Environmental Managers Register.
Since the driver of the vehicle was found to be charged with specific criminal responsibilities for the crime of transport and illegal disposal of special waste, the articulated lorry, the trailer and its contents were seized, and the driver, at liberty, was reported to the judicial authorities of the Irpinia capital.
The activities carried out by the Guardia di Finanza of Avellino demonstrate the constant commitment guaranteed by the Corps in the prevention of all types of economic-financial crimes, including those related to environmental regulations, intercepting traffic likely to compromise the territorial integrity of the places affected by subsequent illicit dumping.
