Enzo Acri, pioneer of digital cinema, independent and precursor of the reality movie, known to the general public for his films “Un Camorrista perbene”, “Nisida- storie maledette di ragazzi a rischio”, “Migranti 1950”, previewed at the Senate for its historical and cultural interest and “Donna di rispetto”, released in theaters in 2017 and in the same year presented in Canada and the United States for communities of Italian origin abroad.

The “Narcos Italia” project is produced by Montecarlo Film, a new independent film production company founded by the director Vincenzo Acri himself and by entrepreneurs Daniela Sabella and Raffaella Gallucci.

As with his 2010 film “Un camorrista perbene”, Acri shakes hearts starting from the title and contrasting opinions are expected from the public and critics.
Narcos Italia is a complex and captivating story that tells the story of today's Naples, without forgetting the Naples of the past, taking up one of the most famous Camorra cases of the 80s.

Enzo Acri takes some young characters from the system created by Raffaele Cutolo in the 70s/80s and transports them into the Camorra of Gomorrah; imagining the consequences. A fictional film but with an eye on reality.
Narcos Italia, a gripping story that unfolds between old and new, set between Naples and Mexico.

The stories told create a pattern that combines the characteristics of large international productions on drug trafficking, such as “El Chapo”, “Queen of the South” or the “Narcos” series themselves, with the characteristics of Italian crime productions.
The film also offers a great visual experience, in which the city of Naples is not only the protagonist of criminal events but is also represented by the beauty of its landscapes and its search for justice: a charm that comes to life from good and evil, from the law and the Camorra, from the darkness and light of breathtaking panoramas.

The photography was curated by DOP Antonio Rosolino, at his first work, who created, thanks to the use of chiaroscuro on the actors' faces and a clever use of lights on the scenes, an aesthetic of the film rich in particulars and details.

Video editing and color creation were followed by the young talent of the Campania cinema scene; Maria Bernardette Ferriello, who created the colors of the film starting from an unconventional mix of cold colors and warm colors depending on the scenes.
The film also gave space to new faces such as Giulia Capponi, Rosa La Sala, Gennaro Lucci, Giuseppe Fontanella and Habib Jendoubi. Young rising stars of the Neapolitan scene who were able to give depth to their characters with their acting.
For a decade, Naples has become the new capital of national and international cinema, where in addition to large-scale productions, there is also room for young independent productions, including the nascent Montecarlo Film.
