Raffaele Caldarelli has decided to honor Naples and the famous Neapolitan lyricist Vincenzo Russo in his promotional campaign for the 2024 zeppola di San Giuseppe.
In the advertising video available on YouTube, the pastry chef mentions the song “I' te vurrìa vasà” while presenting his confectionery creation. The setting of the video evokes atmospheres of the past with scenes shot in the alleys of the historic center, underlining the ancient Neapolitan tradition linked to sharing and the identity of the city.
The zeppola, a traditional dessert linked to March 19, is offered by Raffaele Caldarelli in various versions: cream and black cherry, but also pistachio, chocolate, babà, and caramel, to satisfy everyone's tastes. The choice between the fried version and the baked one has always been a dilemma for lovers of this delicious Neapolitan dessert.
The promotional campaign focuses not only on the suggestive places of Naples, but also on the people who share a great love for the city and for the sweet symbol of March 19, the zeppola.
“A moment of great emotion but also of great spontaneity because Naples is a city with an open heart and wandering through the alleys was an extraordinary and unforgettable experience – explains Raffaele Caldarelli – 2024 is also an important year for the capital of Campania because it marks the 120th anniversary of the death of one of the greatest Neapolitan lyricists, particularly dear to the writer Maurizio de Giovanni: Vincenzo Russo. The fragile poet, so defined for his precarious health conditions that led to his premature death, is the author of some of the most beautiful musical masterpieces in the history of Naples: “Maria Marì” “Torna Maggio” and the unforgettable “Ì te vurrìa vasà” are just some of his songs. A way – concludes the pastry chef – to remember the man and the poet who made an entire city fall in love with his verses”.
