The suspected perpetrators of five separate fires in the province of Salerno have been identified, and a young man has been arrested in connection with the blaze in Atena Lucana, in the Vallo di Diano. This is the outcome of the Carabinieri Forestry Corps' efforts following the forest fires in recent weeks in the Salerno area.
There are 21 administrative sanctions imposed, for a total amount of over 3 thousand euros. The investigative effort carried out by the Forestry Units, specialized in identifying traces left by fire, is significant and has allowed the identification of the presumed responsible parties in the event of five forest fires that broke out on the Amalfi Coast, in the Irno Valley, on the Picentini Mountains, in the Vallo di Diano and in Cava de' Tirreni.
The alleged perpetrators of the identified fires have been reported to the Judicial Authority for the crime of forest fire; in four of the cases, these are culpable forest fires caused by imprudence and/or negligence. In another case, it is a wilful forest fire whose perpetrator is subjected to the measure of house arrest.
