Naples. An investigation conducted by the Guardia di Finanza of Naples, on behalf of the Court of Auditors, has brought to light a serious fraud to the detriment of thehospital Cotugno. Two companies, without employees and adequate documentation, were paid huge sums for works of renovation and maintenance never carried out or carried out irregularly.
The investigations revealed a well-organized corruption system, thanks to the complicity of the former director of the hospital's Technical Maintenance Office. The latter, together with a trusted collaborator, orchestrated the entire scam, from the management of tenders up to the certification of the works and the payment of the invoices.
One of the companies involved was even managed by the nephew of the former director, who was subjected to a seizure of assets for over 3 million euros. The companies lacked workers and documentation certifying regular contributions and safety in the workplace.
