A mind-boggling theft, which ended with a chase and an arrest on the A1 motorway. A 57-year-old was stopped by the Police near the Teano service area, in the Caserta area, after stealing a van loaded with 300 luxury bags with a total value of around one million euros.
Article Key Points
The coup was carried out at Florence, where the criminal, together with two accomplices still wanted, staged a fake car accident to stop the van. According to the reconstruction of the investigators, the three blocked the vehicle, forced the driver to get out and dragged him into the trunk, driving a long distance before abandoning him in an isolated area. The victim, having managed to free himself, alerted the police and reported the robbery.
In the meantime, the 57-year-old was intercepted on the A1. At the sight of the police, he attempted a daring escape: after stopping the vehicle, he climbed over the highway fence, but was quickly stopped by the officers. Inside the van, the Police found 300 bags, belonging to a well-known luxury brand, which were seized and will be returned to their rightful owner.
Investigations ongoing
Law enforcement is now working to identify and track down the man's two accomplices, while the 57-year-old has been arrested on charges of aggravated robbery, kidnapping and receiving stolen goods. An episode that, in terms of the manner and value of the loot, resembles the dynamics of a detective movie, but which ended with the timely intervention of law enforcement and the recovery of the entire load.
