On the afternoon of January 2, 2025, an earthquake measuring 1.9 on the Richter scale was recorded in the Campi Flegrei area. The event, detected by INGV seismographs at 17:04 (Italian time), had its epicenter in the Gulf of Baia, a hamlet of Bacoli, at a depth of 2.7 km.
No damage or injuries were reported. According to witnesses, the shock was preceded by a loud bang and was felt in several municipalities in the Phlegraean area, including Bacoli, Arco Felice, Baia, Fusaro, Monte di Procida, via Campana (in the Pozzuoli area) and Solfatara.
A second shock was recorded at 17:30 pm in the area of Lake Fusaro, this time on the mainland, with a depth of 2.4 km, as reported by the Vesuvius Observatory, the local section of the INGV.
