The announcement was made by President Vincenzo De Luca, who carried out an inspection of the area, where numerous citizens had gathered and some had even forced entry in an attempt to find safe shelter.
"People must be welcomed inside and not left outside waiting. A facility equipped with toilets, health care and a covered area will be operational this evening. In addition, we will activate a psychological support service to help people who have been affected by months of seismic swarms," De Luca said.
“Repeat the exercises to inform citizens”
In addition to creating a safe reception point, the governor stressed the need to intensify evacuation drills to prepare the population to face any future emergencies. “The more citizens are familiar with the reception and waiting places, the better,” De Luca explained.
The President of the Region acknowledged that, despite the emergency tests carried out last year, there were episodes of underestimation of the situation. However, he reiterated the importance of ensuring adequate structures to avoid tensions and precarious situations such as those experienced during the night.
"We don't want any more panic scenes like the ones we just experienced. We need a safe and organized place, not improvised solutions. This is why we are intervening decisively," concluded De Luca.
