“The Recovery and Resilience Plan must be completed by 2026. We cannot let this money be lost or wasted, as unfortunately happened in the past with other European funds”.
The Prime Minister stated this, Mario Draghi, in his speech at the signing ceremony of the Pact for Naples at the Male Angevin.
And then he added: "Public funding is a necessary, not sufficient, condition for the relaunch of the South. The PNRR requires all of us to make a qualitative leap in spending management. With the Pact we are allocating to the Municipality of Naples one billion and 231 million euros over twenty years. We are making a significant contribution to the recovery of the Municipality's accounts and, as explained by Undersecretary Garofoli, we are linking payments to the achievement of certain objectives".
Prime Minister Mario Draghi, who signed with the mayor of Naples Gaetano Manfredi the pact for the deficit repayment, he also said: “I want to thank Undersecretary Garofoli, Mayor Manfredi, and all those who actively worked on this agreement.”
And he explained: "Our challenge is to allow Naples and, with Naples, all of Southern Italy, to maintain the centrality it deserves. It is a challenge that must unite us all: central government, local authorities, civil society. Our commitment is to promote women's participation in the labor market, and to give young people the opportunity to cultivate their dreams in their own land, if they so desire."
“In 2020, the employment rate for working-age women was just 35,1% in the South, compared to 62% in the Center-North. In the South, the youth unemployment rate was 35% – in the North 15% – he recalled. - The lack of opportunities has led to massive emigration: it is estimated that, between 2002 and 2020, over a million people left the South, of which about 30% were graduates”.
