Edwige Fenech tells her story in Ischia, 'Now I'm a mother for Longoni'

“In my next film I will be a mother, the protagonist of a story directed by Angelo Longoni. I am reading the script and it is beautiful”.

Regal charm, class and simplicity, Edwige Fenech enchants Ischia and after her return to the cinema thanks to Pupi Avati she talks about her memories and new projects before collecting the award given to her by the Global Film and music festival of Pascal Vicedomini. “I had been away from Ischia for ten years – says the actress, who now lives in Lisbon – so many memories in the Gulf of Naples: the wonderful house in Capri that I had for 14 years, the happiness, the joys and the sorrows. And also the trips to Procida, Massa Lubrense, Pompeii, for me who lives on art and beauty a magical place”.

How did you convince yourself to return to the set? “Pupi and Antonio Avati chose me for The Fourteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time and after seven years I accepted with enthusiasm: I was offered the role of a woman who has suffered, who has failed, and therefore very different from me, and for an actress this is stimulating. - he tells - Few stories are written for women, especially older women like me. It was the script I was waiting for.

I have done a lot in my life, from commercial comedy to television but also theatre with Patroni Griffi, I can now allow myself to select, to do only the things that make me happy.

I like Sandra's character because it's true, anyone can identify with her or find their sister, their friend. I've had good reviews, the audience has been generous".

The actress talks about her relationship with Gabriele Lavia.

“I didn't know him but after five minutes on the set we seemed like an old couple, we made everyone laugh, we gave the impression of having been married for 40 years”, he admits. Then, it's the turn of his favorite movie: “Il Ladrone by Pasquale Festa Campanile, because I loved the novel very much, having read it before they even offered me the screenplay. Fulvio Lucisano called me to offer me a role, I replied that I would accept only if I played the protagonist, and so it was”. Finally, the experience of producing.

“Even today I don't take off those clothes - explains - It's a job that's in my DNA, when I read a script I always do it taking an interest in the organizational part too, shooting the film is a magnificent adventure".
