These are the numbers of the VIII edition of Un'Estate da RE, a festival hosted from 13 July to 4 August at the Royal Palace of Caserta, planned and financed by the Campania Region (POC funds 2014-2020), organized and promoted by Scabec in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, the Management of the Royal Palace of Caserta, the Municipality of Caserta and the Teatro Municipale “Giuseppe Verdi” of Salerno, with the artistic direction of Maestro Antonio Marzullo.
Last night, in the courtyards of the Royal Palace, the audience attended a memorable concert that saw on the same stage the great Spanish tenor Plácido Domingo and Il Volo (Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble), the Italian group that is becoming popular all over the world, together with a surprising and undisputed talent of the opera, the young soprano Daria Rybak.
The opening, entrusted to the notes of Nabucco by Giuseppe Verdi (Ouverture), was performed by the “Giuseppe Verdi” Philharmonic Orchestra of Salerno conducted by Maestro Marcello Rota. Then the stage was all for Domingo (150 roles, more than 4.000 performances, among the stars of the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame), who with Nemico della Patria (Giordano, Chénier) opened a concert that alternated the most famous melodies of Puccini, Mascagni, Bizet, Leoncavallo (O mio babbino caro, Intermezzo – Cavalleria Rusticana, Au fond du temple saint, Mattinata) with immortal pieces such as My Way by Paul Anka and Torna a Surriento by Ernesto De Curtis, in a succession of changes of voices and protagonists who sang solos and duets, to then perform together in the grand finale, granting an encore of Libiamo ne'lieti calici (Giuseppe Verdi, La traviata), which was followed by a significant standing ovation.
A tribute that the Caserta audience (and not only, given the presence of spectators from all over Italy and abroad) wanted to dedicate in particular to the Maestro from Madrid, for the second time in concert at the Reggia after participating in the 2020th edition of Un'Estate da RE in XNUMX, the year of rebirth after the pandemic. “It was such a pleasure to return to this incredible place — declared Plácido Domingo, interviewed on Radio Monte Carlo, the official radio station of Un'Estate da RE, together with Piero Barone (Il Volo) —. I performed here in my first concert after Covid and the Reggia brought me so much luck, because from here I started singing again and I still haven't stopped. It's a wonderful place."
