After obtaining a permit, Simone Isaia did not return to the place where he was under house arrest, leading the Prosecutor's Office to Napoli to request and obtain the aggravation of the precautionary measure against him.
Isaia, 32, was sentenced to four years in prison for being held responsible for the burning of the “Venus of the Rags”, a work by Michelangelo Pistoletto, which took place on 12 July in Piazza Municipio in Naples, after it had just been repaired about fifteen days earlier.
Currently detained in a prison in Rome, Isaia was no longer at his residence, where he should have been according to the confirmation of house arrest established by the preliminary investigations judge.
The judge had rejected the request for mitigation of the precautionary measure presented by his lawyer, Carla Maruzzelli. The aggravation of the precautionary measure was requested and obtained by the Naples Prosecutor's Office, since it is believed that there is a risk of escape by Isaia, who seems to be particularly affected by the judicial affair.
Lawyer Maruzzelli has announced an appeal against the aggravation of the precautionary measure, firmly maintaining the absolute extraneousness of his client to the affair, based on the procedural documents.
