- Once again, the tranquility of the pedestrian area of Piazza Dante in Naples was disturbed by scooter races, with young drivers who whizzed by doing wheelies and reckless maneuvers among pedestrians, without wearing helmets.

This dangerous dynamic, unfortunately, repeats itself cyclically, and citizens continue to report the accident without receiving adequate responses.
Last night, several young people transformed the pedestrian area into a sort of circuit for scooters and motorcycles, endangering the safety of pedestrians present. A video clearly documents the wheelies and reckless maneuvers performed by the drivers.
MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli received the video as evidence of the events and urged immediate action. He expressed concern about the situation, saying that one cannot wait for a tragedy to occur before taking concrete measures.
In Piazza Dante young people without control own the pedestrian area
“Enough is enough, we cannot wait for a tragedy to happen before taking serious action. I ask once again that a permanent presence of law enforcement be provided in Piazza Dante.
We have seen that the interventions of the agents bring the desired results, immediately stopping this madness. So I wonder why this presence is not planned every day, especially in the evening and night hours, with a reinforcement on weekends.
Sooner or later someone will end up under the wheels of these criminals or will react violently to the abuses. Citizens have the right to live their city peacefully, without risking being run over because they walk, perhaps with their children, in a pedestrian area. We must intervene as soon as possible,” Borrelli declared.
