Santa Maria Capua Vetere Prison: Cgil Reports Serious Critical Issues

A delegation from the CGIL visited yesterday the di Santa Maria Capua Vetere, highlighting a series of critical issues that require immediate attention.

Lack of staff: the is forced to fill multiple positions simultaneously, with unsustainable workloads that threaten the safety of the Institute and the well-being of the staff.

Insufficient resources: The Central Administration has allocated insufficient resources to the chapter relating to staff welfare.

Poor working conditions: air conditioners don't work, furniture and equipment are worn out, with unusable chairs and desks.

The Fp Cgil delegation met with the director of the penitentiary, who confirmed the critical issues encountered and promised to replace the air conditioners by next summer.

The union also asks the Penitentiary Administration of Rome to:

Initiate emergency procedures to fill staff shortages.
Re-establish normal administrative transparency procedures for internal inquiries.
The Fp Cgil Polizia Penitenziaria urges rapid and decisive intervention by the Head of the Dap, Giovanni Russo, to address these critical issues and guarantee the safety and health of the workers of the Penitentiary Police Corps.

The delegation will continue its visit to the prisons of Aversa and Naples Poggioreale, and then meet the Regional Superintendent to take stock of the critical issues encountered.
