After the administrative court of Lazio declared illegitimate the over 3.000 appeals against the Tolc-Med medical tests managed by the Cisia consortium, in 2024 we will return to the traditional national paper test. However, this is a temporary measure, pending a comprehensive reform that should arrive by 2025.
The TAR's decision has left many aspiring doctors unsatisfied: although the tests were declared illegitimate, the rankings resulting from the tests were confirmed, leaving about a thousand places unassigned and blocking subsequent registrations by scrolling. The Ministry of Universities has not yet taken a position on this issue, limiting itself to postponing the tests scheduled for February and modifying the system used in 2023.
According to Sole 24 Ore, the next tests will be held on two dates, instead of just one as was the case two years ago, with the first scheduled for April and the second in July. Further details have not yet been communicated by the Ministry of Universities.
Following the decree, universities will have two months to organize the tests, which should resume the traditional modalities, with 60 multiple choice questions, of which 4 relating to reading skills and knowledge acquired in studies, 5 on logical reasoning and problems, 23 on biology, 15 on chemistry and 13 on physics and mathematics.
It also appears that the 2024 tests will be open only to fifth-year high school students and that the question database will be made public and accessible to allow them to practice and become familiar with the questions, integrated with an additional 3.500 questions made available by Cisia.
