Capua. The Assize Court of the Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere has sentenced 43-year-old Romanian Octavian Muntean to 24 years in prison. He is accused of murdering his uncle Petru Muntean near the sports field on Via Giardini in Capua.
The prosecutor of Santa Maria Capua Vetere had requested a life sentence, contesting the defendant with several aggravating circumstances that the panel, presided over by Roberto Donatiello (assistant judge Honoré Dessi), did not consider to prevail over the mitigating circumstances.
Therefore, he did not apply them and sentenced the accused to 24 years. The crime occurred in early July 2022. Petru, disabled, was found next to his wheelchair in a pool of blood, with visible wounds.
According to the medical examiners, the victim was killed with kicks and punches to the head. Octavian, the nephew, was arrested a month later in Naples while he was picking up a meal at a soup kitchen.
